In 2004 I revert to Islam, why working in the Australian Fashion Industry. I soon released I could only buy maxi length clothing during winter. This was problematic for the hot Australian summer not only was the fabric wrong, it didn’t visually or aesthetically work for the workplace. So Irealised a global market was completely being missed. Muslims living in the west, resorted to multi layering and buying up long sleeve items in winter. So in 2006 I set out to start a fashion label that had longer lengths, cool fabrics but on trend with current fashion trends.

In 2008, I launch Baraka a Modest Fashion label made in Sydney Australia, clothing that fused longer lengths with fashion trends. Cool, comfortable and fashionable the label was the first in the world to fuse hijab with fashion and be source of inspiration for other modest fashion labels to begin building the Modest Fashion Industry. My work has been feature at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney Australia, Vogue Magazine and Australian Fashion Week in 2012. Pre-Instagram my work appears only in books, blogs and in the memories of my customers. But now it’s time to share and contribute something again to the Fashion industry. I look forward to working again in this space.
